Pole Hedge Trimmers Make the Job Safer

Posted on September 2nd, 2010 in Gas Blower by gasblower  Tagged

The people, who have had their pole hedge trimmers for more than six months, would never go back to their old way of trimming their hedges. They cannot believe they used a ladder and a conventional trimmer to keep the growth of their hedges under control. If you are considering buying a pole hedge cutter do not be tempted to go with the least expensive model. The old saying that you get what you pay for certainly applies in this case.

You will want the hedge trimmer that remains well balanced when you are cutting. The less expensive models have balance issues, so you need to buy the one where you do not have to worry about the blade moving out of your cutting area.

You might need various attachments depending on the work you will perform. If you have not used this tool before, you will want to buy the basic attachments and then add attachments as you learn how to use the tool.

When it comes to gas or cordless models, you have to decide which is best for you. The electric model is quieter of course. But the gas powered unit is more powerful. So if you have thick branches to cut, you will want to consider the gas model. If you use the gas powered tool however, make sure to use ear protection. No matter which unit you use, make sure to also wear eye protection.

You might think that the gas powered unit will put out a lot of exhaust and that you might choke and cough when you are using it; this is not a problem however because the tool is designed to send the fumes away from you. The motor itself is safely located away from the area where you hold onto the pole.

This tool has proven to be the friend of many people who have enlisted it in their landscaping arsenal. If you are looking to use this equipment however, make sure you find the one that fits your skill and ability.

All hedge trimmers are not created the same. If you believe you have substantial upper body strength and a keen sense of balance, then the weight of the pole will not be an issue. But if you think you tire easily while holding your arms up for an extended period of time, you need to consider buying a lightweight model even if that model does not cut larger sized branches as would one with a heavier pole.

But one thing is for sure, using this tool is safer than using a ladder and a conventional hedge trimmer. When you are up on a ladder with both hands on the trimmer, you leave yourself open for an accident. You can very easily lose your balance and fall.

So, before you have an accident look at the pole hedge trimmers available at a lawn and garden store near you. Make safety your number one concern when you are performing your landscaping chores.

Petrol Garden Tools Or Electric Garden Tools?

Petrol Garden Equipment Or Electric?

Although most garden tools are now available as either gas or electric most domestic gardeners still opt for electric garden equipment over petrol.

There are a number of reasons for this.

For the home gardener the first consideration when buying a new piece of gardening equipment is likely to be cost. The initial outlay to purchase a petrol model will certainly be considerably more than for electric.

With petrol garden tools the user has to fill them with fuel and a lot of people don’t really like doing this. Also there is the issue of storing fuel somewhere safe, and the possibility of running out half way through a job. Electric garden tools are simpler in this respect as you just plug them in and go. They are also a lot easier to start.

So if electric tools are so great why is it that professional gardeners almost always chose petrol garden tools?

First and foremost they regard them as a better investment in the long term. They have to pay a lot more for them but they know that they will last a great deal longer than an electric model if properly looked after and maintained. In short they are going to get a better return for their money.

Petrol garden tools are totally portable and can be used anywhere. In a large garden you may be working a long way from any source of electricity, but with a petrol tool this is not a problem. They can be used in most weather conditions too. Another important factor for professional gardeners is how powerful the tool is and whether it will be up to the heavier jobs. They cannot afford to have a piece of equipment let them down as it could prove very expensive for them in lost time. There can also be some pretty tough jobs in a domestic garden too so this is an area where petrol garden tools are clearly better.

So next time you are thinking about an item of garden equipment it may well be worth looking at petrol models as well as electric. For some jobs of course it would simply not be worth the extra outlay. If you are using a tool only a few times a year its probably not worth going for petrol. For other items though it is definitely worth checking out both before deciding.

Cordless Electric Lawn Mower

Posted on August 29th, 2010 in Gas Blower by gasblower  Tagged ,

A cordless electric lawn mower is much like a gas powered lawn mower in that is utilizes horizontal blades to cut the grass. But unlike gas powered mowers, electric mowers are much quieter and are less expensive to use, around $5 per season. They also require less maintenance than a gas mower.

If you are like so many of us out there, you are trying to live a greener lifestyle. Electric mowers are also much better for air quality than gas mowers. The only drawback in this is that cordless electric mowers use a lead-acid battery and the production and disposal of these is an environmental issue. Avoiding the hassle of having to buy gas and oil is said to be a definite plus with many owners.

An advantage if you are choosing between a corded electric mower and a cordless one is that you are not restricted in your range and flexibility while mowing because you don’t have to worry about being attached to a cord.

That being said, cordless electric lawn mowers are heavier because of the battery than corded mowers, but they are lighter than gas mowers.

Most do not have leaf bags to purchase or if they do, they don’t work very efficiently; but they are usually very good at mulching. One nice feature they have is that the handles fold nicely to make storage easier.

Use time usually ranges from 30-60 minutes, around enough time to mow 1/4-1/3 of an acre. There are a few models that allow you to change out batteries while you are mowing, thus limiting the area you can mow only by the numbers of batteries you have.

If you are becoming more environmentally conscientious, tired of having your ears assaulted by gas mowers, and tired of the maintenance involved with a gas mower, a cordless electric lawn mower may be exactly what you are looking for!

Design Your Free-Standing Fireplace

Posted on August 24th, 2010 in Gas Blower by gasblower  Tagged , ,

There is no doubt that fireplaces become the popular décor of a modern family. I can not think of anything more peaceful and relaxing than sitting next to a fire with dancing flames and the sounds of popping embers.

There are mainly two types of fireplaces, the embedded one and free-standing type. Embedded type is usually a wood hearth stove or fireplace insert built into wall with its surround a fireplace. A free-standing type of fireplaces does not mean that you can move them about without a lot of work. Generally speaking, they stay in a pot with the location of the chimney.

Although a free-standing, it still has many choices for you to design. The most usual design styles include the contemporary, traditional, country and ultra modern. As heating equipment, wood or gas is the conventional fuel. So find out a proper space is what should be considered first, but not to be too far away from the center of your room so as to have a balanced heating radiating.

The materials of a free-standing stove are often cast iron, stone, brass metal and other medium as well. You can choose the right color to better match your home design, for it is not just meant as a heater but also a dominant décor, which will add you room a romantic and warm mood. Chimney is not the only stove accessories, the choosing of mantels, windows and doors are important too, which influenced the whole appearance of your free-standing stove.

And many of free-standing fireplaces have a heater with a fan or blower to circulate the air. These models often have the remote control with them. The materials are often lightweight materials which are resembled of the real texture. The advantage is that such stoves do not take in too much space. The artificial flames are realistic, which seemed like you can really feel its heat. Plus, this type has variety of styles and color for you to choose, which satisfied many fireplace lovers. Alternatively, you can choose one simulates the old potbelly type stoves which have been around for many years.
